1505	Luther entered the strict Augustinian Monastery of Erfurt.
1512	Professor of divinity at the University of Wittenberg.
Autumn 1517	Tetzel travelled through Germany.
31 October 1517	Martin nailed the 95 theses about indulgences to the door of the All Saints' Church in Wittenberg.
15 June 1520	A papal letter was issued, threatening that Luther would be excommunicated if he did not revoke his 41 heresies.
3 January 1521	The pope responded by excommunicating him.
1521	Luther was called to answer for himself by the young Emperor Charles V
As early as 1520	Luther wrote several books to show that reformation was urgently needed.
1521	Luther wrote a treatise about monastic vows at Wartburg Castle
18 February 1546	Luther was passed away.
